Juno Tab 3 is a rare Linux tablet running Mobian Phosh, Ubuntu, or Kubuntu on an Intel Processor N100 quad-core Alder Lake-N processor and equipped with a 12.1-inch touchscreen display with 2160×1440 resolution.
We’ve covered many Intel N100 hardware platforms, mostly mini PCs, and the closest thing to a tablet was the Higole F9B Pro mini PC with a 7-inch touchscreen display and a 26mm thick design. The Juno Tab 3 is a proper Linux tablet with an Intel N100 CPU, 12 GB RAM, 512GB SSD, and a 12.1-inch touchscreen display in an 8.7mm thin design.

Juno provides three operating systems for the Tab 3 Linux tablet: Mobian Linux, a Debian-based Linux distribution optimized for mobile devices with the Phosh mobile user interfaces, Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, and Kubuntu 24.04 LTS with the KDE Plasma desktop environment.
You’ll find Mobian images on the Juno online store where you can also purchase the Tab 3 for $699 to $799 depending on storage configuration. It’s quite more expensive than the Juno tablet introduced in 2022, and while Linux itself is usually free, there’s often markup since Linux hardware is a niche market. For reference, I could find an Intel N100 laptop with a 360° hinge, a 14-inch touchscreen display, 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD for $360 on AliExpress.

The specs are reasonable but that price is ridiculous.
There is nothing in there that could justify any high cost of an individual component.
$350 is far more realistic and I think would sell many more times than they ever will at $700+
This is what you can expect out of a boutique “Linux computer company based in the UK & US”.
I wonder what would reel me in for $700. There have been N305 laptops under $200 (refurb), or $300 new (sale price), so even the full 8-core would be a tough sell. Something like the Minisforum V3 Ryzen 7 8840U tablet is $1000.
I got about the same screen size from Lenovo for less than this moneys but with a 2.5k OLED screen. Much better for the eyes and there is also an option to attach a keyboard. It has 8 core MT8797Z SoC and I got it from Aliexpress for about 2/3 of the price of the tablet in the review. But there is an Android system designed for touch screens. If I want a portable device with Linux I would go for a small laptop and not for the tablet which tends to flip when it is not on a stable… Read more »
Besides pricey, let’s not forget power hungry: everything I’ve seen so far with an N100 or similar Intel processor uses ~10W at idle. In a tablet or anything running on batteries, that’s going to be pretty damning. And for about $940 one can have a Minisforum V3 with a Ryzen 8840U, which besides being *way* more powerful than an N100, uses less than 5W at idle and comes much better equipped (14″ screen, 32GB RAM, dockable keyboard, etc): So paying up to $800 for the Juno is a total non-starter, at least for me. @Jean-Luc, could you do one of… Read more »
Minisforum does not consider CNX Software a worthwhile website for reviews. So they won’t be sending a sample.
🙁 Well, I guess I’m not buying any Minisforum products, then… to me, in-depth reviews like the ones you do are sine-qua-non for my purchases, no exceptions.
Maybe they’ll force it to use less power (6W) with no boosting. And the ~10W idle power numbers you’ve seen may be for the whole system.
Jean reviewed the fanless MINIX Z100-0dB, and got about 9W idle (total system) in Windows 11, but only 7.6W in Ubuntu.
There is also the starlite mk v. The original has a nice enough display (I think they downgraded the screen since) but battery life is lacking and the N200 is slowish
They will go bankrupt in no time by those prices yay!
