Fanless Intel N100 mini PC supports PoE power input, provides four 2.5GbE ports

‎NEOSMAY is selling a fanless Intel Processor N100 mini PC with support for PoE power input, four 2.5GbE ports, HDMI and DisplayPort video outputs, and a choice of USB ports for $249 (after ticking the $150 coupon code) on Amazon with 8GB RAM and a 128GB SATA SSD.

The mini PC also supports 12V DC power input if you don’t use PoE power input, and comes with an additional RJ45 port acting as an RS232 console. There’s no built-in wireless, but the mini PC can take a WiFi and Bluetooth module, as well as a 4G LTE or 5G module, and features a SIM card slot for the latter.

Fanless Intel N100 mini PC PoE power input

The mini PC comes preloaded with Windows 11, but considering its four 2.5GbE ports, it’s also sold as a “micro firewall appliance” and “soft router” supporting pfSense, Proxmox VE, Ubuntu, and so on. The features are quite similar to the iKOOLCORE R2 we’ve just reviewed with Proxmox VE running Ubuntu 22.04 Desktop and pfSense, but with a larger form factor that enables a few more ports and features.

The mini PC ships with a 12V power adapter, an HDMI cable, two antennas, a VESA mount, a screw set, and a user manual. It looks like an OEM mini PC that would typically be sold by several vendors, and while I could not find this exact model anywhere else, XCY is selling a very similar Intel N100 mini PC on Aliexpress, minus PoE support, but with an extra RS485 terminal block for $142 and up with the lowest price being for a barebone model without RAM and storage.

I have noticed that this thing doesn’t have a setting in its UEFI setup to power on automatically upon receiving power. Which means that after any power outage you have to push the power button. This sucks, considering it’s a nice machine otherwise.

A correction:

Power on after power failure IS supported. However, it’s somewhat obscure: in BIOS Settings, you need to go to “Advanced” -> “Misc. Onboard Setting”, and there, set “Power state after G3” to “S0”. This is the exact opposite of what the manual is saying. “S5” means stay off, S0 means power on.
