RK3588S SBC 4G LTE NFC

Youyeetoo provides support for Android 13, Debian 11, Ubuntu 22.04, and Buildroot all based on Linux 5.10. The wiki is still very much in progress, but when Arnon reviewed the Youyeetoo X1 board with Ubuntu 22.04 he found the documentation to be fairly good, and I’d expect it to be the same for the new R1 SBC in due time.

One concern I initially had was the lack of a cooling solution and/or mounting holes for a heatsink and/or fan. But the company is apparently planning to release both a metal enclosure and an acrylic enclosure, and I can see the listing on Aliexpress shows the board is shipping with a heatsink and a 3M thermal pad.

I think it’s the first Rockchip RK3588 or RK3588S board with built-in NFC support, but I’m not sure how important this feature is since it’s always possible to add a USB NFC reader. If you need that feature, the Youyeeto R1 should be cheaper as USB NFC readers sell for $30 to $60 on Amazon and the NFC antenna required by the Rockchip board only costs about $4…

The Youyeetoo R1 single board computer can be purchased for $109 on Aliexpress with 4GB RAM and 32GB flash, but Youyeetoo also sells it directly on their online store for $89.10 until December 31, after which the regular price is $99. Shipping is quite higher than on Aliexpress however. Right now, the highest configuration is 8GB/64GB, as the 16GB/128GB and 32GB/256GB models are not for sale just yet. All versions of the R1 board including the ones with 32GB RAM and 256GB eMMC flash are also listed on Amazon, but shown as being “currently unavailable”.
