StarLite Mk V 2-in-1 Linux hybrid laptop features Processor N200 processor

Just last month, Star Labs introduced the Byte Mk II Intel Processor N200-based mini PC with a choice of Linux distributions that include Ubuntu 22.04, Linux Mint, Manjaro, Zorin OS, and others, as well as Coreboot support.

The company has now introduced another Linux hardware platform powered by the Processor N200 Alder-Lake-N CPU with the StarLite Mk V 2-in-1 hybrid laptop with a 12.6-inch tablet and a detachable keyboard available in six different layouts.

Detachable keyboard with QWERTY layout

The StarLite Mk V tablet ships with a 65W USB-C power adapter with one detachable plug (UK, EU, US, or AU), a 2-meter USB-C charging cable, a Quick Start Guide, a protective sleeve, and a screen cleaning cloth. The detachable keyboard is not included by default, but you can add to the order with either English (UK), English (US), German, Spanish, French, or Nordic layout

Just like for the Byte Mk II mini PC, the 2-in-1 hybrid laptop can be purchased with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, elementary OS 6.1, Linux Mint 21, Manjaro 21.3.7, MX Linux 21.1, or for an extra fee, Zorin OS 16.1 or Windows 11 22H1. Other options include the SSD’s storage capacity of up to 2TB, a 5-meter USB-C cable, a USB-C Dock, etc…

As noted when we wrote about the Star Labs Byte Mk II mini PC, the pricing for the 2-in-1 Linux hybrid laptop is on the high side, because of the niche nature of the device, customization to the firmware (CoreBoot), a made-to-order device with various options, plus some of the profits will end up being donated the developers of the selected OS.

For those reasons, Star Labs ask for $498 for the StarLite Mk V in its minimal configuration with 512GB SSD storage and no keyboard. That’s apparently a promotional price, and eventually, the company’s Processor N200 tablet will sell for at least $713 in basic configuration. Additional information may be found on the product page where you’ll find the “Configure” tab to pre-order the device and get it shipped within 8 to 9 weeks.
