Giveaway Week – MINIX NEO S1 USB-C Hub with 120GB built-in SSD

MINIX NEO S1 & S2 USB-C hubs come with either 120 or 240 GB SSD storage, as well as an HDMI output, 2x USB  3.0 ports, and a USB-C port for power.

I reviewed MINIX NEO S2 in details with an SBC running Ubuntu 18.04, and plan to keep it for future reviews, but since I also received MINIX NEO S1, I’ll be given it away for free to one of my readers as part of Giveaway Week 2019.

While the device is designed for Apple Macbook Air and Apple Macbook Pro, it should work with any computer or board with a USB-C port with DisplayPort Alternate mode provided you want to use the HDMI output port.

An extra USB-C power supply is optional, but I’ve found out it’s mostly required if you’ve going to connect one or more USB 3.0 hard drive to the hub.

This item is new, as I did not even open the box, focusing the review on the NEO S2 model.

  1. I would totally take one of these USB-C docking stations. Bonus if it runs the minix OS, but I won’t get my hopes up.

  2. This review is very concise & straight to the point. I really need a device like this to connect to multiple device during my class time for presentation purposes & it is so cool that it has built in SSD !!! Unbelievable !I can store my study notes & Microsoft files in the device, the best part is that it is light & small. I hope to win this as I’m still studying my Diploma.

  3. Did you know there are only 4 words in the English language which end in ‘dous’ (they are: hazardous, horrendous, stupendous and tremendous)

    That’s just stupendous 😛

  4. Pick me! Pick me! If not no worries, keep up the good work! I look forward to your emails everyday.

  5. I already commented once below but I wanted to add that I just got my very first laptop with a USB C port and the thought of being able to add peripherals and an additional external monitor and more storage is super exciting to me. So far this is the item that I’m most excited about during giveaway week. Fingers crossed!

  6. I could always use more storage for my notebook. It would be interesting to compare the speed of an external SSD to the internal SSD.

  7. MINIX NEO S1 was the most popular prize so far with 190 entries.
    Random.org is action… #2
