Zidoo Z1000 4K Android Media Player to Feature Realtek RTD1296DD Processor

Zidoo previously introduced several Reatek RTD1296 4K Android media players with their high-end Zidoo X20/X20 Pro models, followed by the lower cost Zidoo Z9S & Z10 units.

The company is now about to launch yet another model based on the processor with Zidoo Z1000 4K UHD media player that should offer an option between the higher-end models and the company’s entry-level options.

Cooling is achieved with a “double ball silent cooling fan”. The media player will ship with a backlit remote control, a power cable, a SATA cable, and a user’s manual. While the box is mostly advertised as a high quality Android 7.1 media player featuring the company’s Poster Wall user interface and Music Player 3.0 app, it also runs OpenWrt to handle its NAS functions.

Why are they releasing something with Android 7 in 2019?

Running Android and OpenWrt at the same time?

I’m wondering if that is correct (and if it is how it is done, unless of course there are multiple processors).
I’m unaware of openwrt running on top of android or android running on top of openwrt. Of course virtualisation could be the answer, but that is probably not nice wrt performance.

It is not the first TV box running OpenWRT and Android at the same time. Not a bad device, but I want an Android free device. I’ve had it with Android TV boxes, but people still want Android for some reason. I can say in 2019 that Android is not usable for a TV box (in my opinion, after using a Q10 Pro for 2 years).
