Allwinner and Qualcomm announced a partnership last year to help Chinese manufacturers design entry-level LTE tablets based on Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, and Allwinner collaborated with Emdoor one several designs including EM-QL8170 LTE tablet with a Snapdragon 210 processor and a 6.98″ display.
Emdoor EM-QL8170 specifications:

- System Memory – 1 or 2 GB DDR3L

- Connectivity – 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, and GPS

- Camera – 2.0MP front-facing camera, 8.0MP rear camera
- Audio – 1x microphone, 1x 3.5mm audio jack, likely some speaker somewhere…

- Battery – 2850 mAh battery
- Dimensions – 189.7 x 97.7 x 7.8 mm
- Weight – 248 grams
The phone runs Android 5.1 and will cost a little over $70 (FOB), which could translate to $120 to $140 on sites like Aliexpress. Emdoor also has various other Qualcomm/Allwinner design all with Snapdragon processor, including a rugged smartphone as you’ll find out in Charbax’ video below.

So these are phablets?
What part of it did Allwinner contribute? It doesn’t appear to have any of their silicon in it.
Also, is that supposed to be Windows it’s running?
which companies usually sell emdoor tablets ? Hopefully the product is at least released with Android Marshmallow preinstalled.

Allwinner is the intermediary between Qualcomm and Chinese manufacturers. They provide technical support, no Allwinner chips involved.
The partnership is for both Android and Windows.

In the video they talk about Micromax (India), and also a German company (can’t remember the name).
I’m not seeing what Allwinner gets out of this partnership. Allwinner delivers Chinese OEMs that build phablets using Qualcomm’s chips. What does Allwinner get?

I’m assuming Allwinner gets paid by Qualcomm for their technical support.
That.. or quite unlikely with Qualcomm, but frequently done in China, there may be some kind of technology transfer from Qualcomm to Allwinner. The Chinese government often have this kind of requirements for foreign companies to operate in China.

Alternatively it could be that Allwinner can source Qualcomm at a very low price in large quantities through that partnership, and sell them with a profit to Chinese companies.

Or it could go the other way – Qualcomm might be accusing Allwinner of patent infringement and this is how Allwinner is paying for a license.
I still can’t see how Allwinner gets enough benefit out of this in exchange for delivering their best customers to Qualcomm. There is something hidden going on here, it does not make sense. These designs use zero Allwinner silicon.
