I see more and more devices based on Remix OS, an operating system based on Android with desktop improvements, and the latest is Vensmile U1 powered by Amlogic S905 processor with 2GB RAM, and 32GB storage, and which strongly looks like Unuiga S905+ TV box, also running Remix OS, and launched via an ultimately unsuccessful crowdfunding campaign.
- SoC – Amlogic S905 quad core ARM Cortex-A53 @ up to 2.0GHz with penta-core Mali-450MP GPU
- System Memory – 2GB RAM
- Storage – 32GB flash + micro SD slot
- Video Output – HDMI 2.0, AV
- Audio – HDMI, AV, optical S/PDIF
- Connectivity – Gigabit Ethernet, dual band 802.11 b/g/n (ac?) WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0
- USB – 2x USB 2.0 host ports
- Misc – IR receiver, touch button for power on/off and standby
- Power Supply – 5V/2A
- Dimensions – 11.2 x 11.2 x 2 cm
So the specs are indeed exactly the same as for Unuiga S905+, possibly with a small difference for the wireless module. The product will ship with one IR remote control, a HDMI Cable, a power adapter, and a manual in English.
Vensmile U1 is sold on GearBest for $60.99 including shipping with GBVU1 coupon, or about $6 extra compared to the crowdfunding campaign. It could also find it on eBay for $71.99, and Banggood for $79.99.

Cheapest Windows Atom based boxes are little more expensive – $70-80 so $60 for ARM is too expensive.
@cbm80
Indeed, should have an S912 on board for this price.
What are the chances to get RemixOS installed on a MXQ Pro+ which has nearly the same specs and can be bough for half of this price?
@cbm80
The $70 Intel mini PCs usually still lacks Gigabit Ethernet, dual band WiFi, 4K and H.265 support, remote control, HDMI cable, etc.. So a closer side-by-side comparison would be to compare it to a $100+ Intel mini PC with all missing features and Atom x5-Z8300. The Intel platform would be faster, but almost twice as expensive.
@Emanuel
I’m not even sure how to get the image, since it’s closed source, and they probably don’t share the firmware. It might be protected against copy/running on other hardware too.
yeah, S905 boxes go for ~$35,aren’t they?
@Jean-Luc Aufranc (CNXSoft)
Well you can get the images here: http://www.jide.com/remixos/devices
Maybe I’ll try the Sen5 S905 image, since it looks like the MXQ Pro+ device
@Emanuel
The MXQ Pro+ is dead in the water.
Lots of people on freaktab forum are selling theirs as the manufacturer only cares about being first to market with all their tv boxes and have zero firmware updates, several of their boxes are doa.
Remix OS also won’t work, people on xda forum already tried it and signatures failed.
No wonder they are so cheap.
@Fossxplorer
Yes with 2GB RAM / 8GB flash. Since that model comes with 32GB, Gigabit Ethernet, dual band WiFi, it would be higher, maybe around $50. It’s difficult to know for sure since I can’t find other S905 TV boxes with 32GB flash.
@Jean-Luc Aufranc (CNXSoft)
For example Beelink M18 is close to $60 @ http://www.gearbest.com/tv-box-mini-pc/pp_282312.html
@Emanuel
Nice.. I should have done a Google search… Somehow I did not expect Jide to have page with links to firmware for supported devices. Before you try, make sure the specs are as close as possible.
@mo123
There was a firmware update just a week ago or so for those boxes so that’s why I’m asking.
S905 boxes tend to get pretty hot from what I’ve read, but since it has 2gb RAM and 16GB ROM it would be a great RemixOS device.
What I don’t get is what is actual benefit for user from Remix OS on mediaplayer device which is controlled by default with IR remote…
@Emanuel
My mbox minim8s 2gb is s905 and runs cool even in 3Dmark it hardly breaks a sweat. Watching video no problem.
Lower spec but there is a 71 day 39 dollar offer on this Remix box
http://www.gearbest.com/tv-box-mini-pc/pp_363313.html
@Stane1983
Well you can always plug in a keyboard/mouse combo.
You can’t get cheaper desktop pc with that kind of specs.
@Fossxplorer
Can you point us to an S905 box for 35$ that is 2/32 Gb and has 1000 Ethernet and dual wifi?
@Basjke
Well, less than $35 2/8GB: minim8s but 100mbit LAN, pay a bit more (~ $43) you get 2/16GB with 1gbit LAN MiniMXIII.
I just received it yesterday. Gonna give it a try.
Storage can be expanded with SD Cards with some of the Samsung EVOs providing pretty decent IOPS, ref tkaiser of Armbian.
@Fossxplorer
Thanks, that’s a great deal which i wasn’t aware of. Did you get it from Gearbest, or can you give a link where the 2/16Gb is available, as might order one myself. By the way I fancy the Unuiga Remix, which I think is the same as the Vensmile, but would like to know if it is possible to replace the OS with Android 5.1
