MeegoPad T04 Cherry Trail mini PC Sells for $136

Right after writing about MeegoPad T03 TV stick, I noticed another product on Amazon, namely MeegoPad T04 which for once is not based on a Bay Trail processor, but instead the newer Intel Atom x5-Z8300 Cherry Trail quad core processor, and which sells for $139 on Aliexpress or $136 on Amazon US. [Update: T04 is now sold on Gearbest for $123.99 with MGT04 coupon]

Since the descriptions on Amazon and Aliexpress can’t be fully trusted, these are only tentative specifications for MeegoPad T04, which are quite similar to the ones listed for Tronsmart Ara x5:

  • SoC – Intel Atom x5-Z8300 “Cherry Trail” quad core processor @ 1.44 GHz (Bust freq: 1.84 GHz) with Intel Gen8 HD graphics (2W SDP)
  • System Memory –  2 GB
  • Storage – 32 GB eMMC + micro SD slot
  • Video Output – HDMI
  • Audio I/O – HDMI, 3.5mm microphone jack
  • Connectivity – Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.0
  • USB – 1x USB 3.0 port, 1x USB 2.0 host port
  • Misc – Power button
  • Power Supply – 5V/2A via micro USB port
  • Dimensions – 105mm*35mm
  • Weight – 250 grams

The device is apparently pre-loaded with Windows 8.1 Pro (obviously unlicensed), and upgradeable to Windows 10. At this stage, it’s unclear whether Atom Cherry Trail processors will support Linux out of the box, or will have various issues like Atom Bay Trail used to have.

I wonder how much more items would sell through buyer confidence, if only these Asian oems used proper grammar and spelling. Chinese OEM rule, “If they can’t bother to write it, don’t bother to buy it”

Did MEGO PAD not learn that unlicenced products are useless outside of China?

Actually they’re not … you can easily activate Windows with kmspico and use it anywhere …. ( if they haven’t already done that ).

What I like about it is that you don’t have to pay Windows tax so I can just wipe it and install Linux. Sure a version with legal Windows and one with Ubuntu or something would be nice but it’s probably too much to ask.

Of yes and of course it’s not legal activating with kmspico ( in most places at least ) but you can use it 😀

You should better not talk the windows activate with kmspico here. ship the device with unlicensed windows will cause a lot of big problem in custom and in local market. The official windows 8 or windows 10 license is about 30usd with tax.
