Ruach A20 Android TV Box Powered by AllWinner A20 Sells for $43

Android TV Boxes based on dual core processors usually sells for north of $50. But you can now get an AllWinner A20 based Android media player for just $43.39 including shipping thanks to Ruach A20 also featuring 1GB RAM, 8 GB Flash, Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity, two USB ports, and more.

Ruach_A20Ruach A20 specifications:

  • System Memory – 1GB DDR3,
  • Storage – 8GB NAND Flash
  • Video Output – HDMI, Composite
  • Audio Output – HDMI, Stereo RCA,
  • Connectivity – 10/100M Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n
  • USB – 2x USB host ports
  • Misc – IR receiver, power button

Ruach_A20_rear_PanelThis Android 4.2.2 TV Box comes with an IR remote control, an AV cable, a power adapter, and a user’s manual.

The manufacturer has a website in Chinese only, but I could find a page on Baidu where they share diverse firmware, tools, and APK for their devices. So it’s possible the firmware for the Ruach A20 device mentioned in this post is available for download, but bear in mind their are other boxes called “A20” on the company website, so make sure it’s the proper firmware if you ever plan, or have, to update.

I’ve tried to double check the price on Taobao, and I could not find this exact model, but the other Ruach A20 model sells for as low as 189 RMB (~$30 USD) with 4GB flash and 512 MB RAM.

Tell me about it.
Sometimes I wonder also if it is a problem with the English Language,or if they are really shifty.
But after dealing with them for years I am starting to lean to the later.

Well, there’s no sd slot – no proper linux support atm. This one looks much better: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2014-Hot-Smart-TV-box-A20-Dual-Core-Google-Android-Allwinner-Cortex-A7-1GB-4GB-Flash/1714972998.html

For XBMC, there’s the VidOn.Me implementation: http://www.cnx-software.com/2014/05/10/vidon-me-updates-xbmc-source-code-for-their-allwinner-a20-and-a31-based-android-media-players/
But I’m not sure it works with other A20 boxes. I haven’t heard any feedback yet.

I have never read from anyone who had it working….

Hi. Maybe you can help me with my problem. I bought a noname Chinese SMART MEDIA PLAYER Mini PC resembling in appearance, features and technical details with this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dual-Core-Android-4-2-2-Smart-TV-Box-Pro-Media-Player-1080P-WIFI-HDMI-XBMC-YOUTU-/310953226142?_trksid=p2054897.l4275 . In one of the tests I’ve done I selected to display the last option. I do not know who it was (maybe you are kind and post a printscreen with sub display). Since then no longer see any HDMI or AV than the blackscreen. After booting enter blackscreen. Has a hole in the back where he is a reset button. I tried, by pressing all the variations. 5 seconds, 10… Read more »

@Rappi To flash the firmware: 1) ucompress the RH46.zip file 2) go inside, you will see an IMG file (the rom image) and a ZIP file with the flash card software. Unzip this file. 3) got an micro SD card. 4) open the box, it’s easy using whatever mobile fix kit. or a thinner plain unscrew, just put between the top of the box and the body and press.. it’s easy to open. My advice start doing from the front where the IR reader is. 5) you will see a card reader in the bottom left corner. 6) using the… Read more »

HOW THE HELL DO I FLASH THIS PIECE OF SHIT? I HAVE HAD A FEW ANDROID BOXES, BUT NEVER HAVE I COME ACROSS ONE LIKE THIS. ALL I GET IF I TRY GOING INTO RECOVERY MODE IS A GREEN BAR THAT COMPLETES AFTER 30 SECONDS THEN THE BOX JUST BOOTS AS NORMAL.
