I wrote about AllWinner A20 mini PC and media players yesterday, but Gabe, a regular reader and commenter, informed me that at least one quad core Cortex A7 mini PC is now available. UNUIGA U28 HDMI TV dongle is powered by AllWinner A31 SoC, and comes with 2GB RAM, and 8GB flash, as well as U03 wireless keyboard. The device sells for $101 including shipping in a new (without any feedback) shop in Aliexpress.
Here are the specifications of this AllWinner A31 HDMI TV dongle:
- SoC – AllWinner A31 quad core Cortex A7 + PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU
- System Memory – 2GB DDR3 RAM
- Storage – 8GB NAND Flash + microSD
- Connectivity – WiFi 802.11b/g/n
+ Bluetooth 2.1 - USB – 1x USB 2.0 host port, 2x mini USB ports
- Video Output – HDMI
- Video Codecs – Mpeg1/2/4.H.264,VC-1,Divx,Xvid,RM8/9/10,VP6

- Audio Codecs – DTS, AC3, LPCM, FLAC, HE-AAC

- Dimensions – 140*50*12mm

The stick is said to come with a USB Cable, one HDMI Cable, one USB OTG Cable, and a User’s Manual. Oups, the wireless keyboard is gone from the package content… The sellers seems to have just copied iMito MX2 specifications, and made some changes. So I changed the font to blue color when I’m pretty confident the information is correct, and let the parts I believe to be from MX2 specs in black. Even if it’s only listed in the title, I still believe the wireless keyboard must be included since they added many pictures of an UNUIGA wireless keyboard.
New seller, specifications hard to trust…. needless to say currently buying this device from this shop is only for the most adventurous, and I’d wait until we get more information about UNUIGA U28, and a reputable seller if I had to spend my own money. If you want to buy in quantities, you can try to contact UNUIGA / Great Harmony Electronics Industrial Ltd directly.
[Update: GeekBuying has the device, and posted some more pictures and information. The performance looks good (Antutu: 10915), but the firmware is not stable at all yet, so they don’t sell it yet].
Yesterday, I also learned linux-sunxi community had received some leaked source code for AllWinner A20 and A31, and they started to clean up the code. This means we should eventually get Linux running on AllWinner A31, but since this SoC embeds a PowerVR SGX GPU, 2D/3D graphics support in Linux is most probably just a distant dream, at least until Ubuntu 14.04 with Mir display server.

Actually we have got this sample some days ago, but we don’t post information ,because the stick is not ready to release, it just copy the tablet OS to the stick , there is no screen resolution set choice in setting,you can not set 720 or 1080P, i think allwinner a31 is not ready for tv stick now.
also,please notice, there is no bluetooth in this stick. I will share some information on the blog later, but i think i am not ready to release this model, it is not ready for selling now.
GPU is Mali 400, not PowerVR SGX544MP2
Is it a leak if it’s a legal requirement?
@GeekBuying
Thanks for letting people know. I’ve removed Bluetooth from the specs
@tienlequoc
On Aliexpress it’s Mali-400, but it’s PowerVR SGX544MP2 inside AllWinner A31.
@notzed
It all depends how they got the code. If it’s a manufacturer that voluntarily released the code, then it’s not, if it’s just an employee or another person that just put the code there, then it’s a leak.
@tienlequoc
Are you not confusing this with the A20?
hi, in aliexpress is no longer avalaible
@toni
Maybe they just put it there, and we were not suppose to discover it…
