MK808 family of Android TV sticks has been relatively popular starting with MK808 & MK808B based on Rockchip RK3066 dual core processor, followed by MK808B Plus with Amlogic S805 quad core processor, and now MK808B PRO has been launched with the same form factor but featuring an Amlogic S905 64-bit processor combined with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage.

The device runs Android 5.1 and comes pre-loaded with the same launcher as on MINI MX, as well as Kodi with some pre-installed add-ons. If you don’t like the launcher, you can always use the instructions provided in EM95 review for a more classic launcher, and you could also re-install a clean version of Kodi 16.0. MK808B PRO ships with an OTG cable, a short mini HDMI to HDMI cable, a mini USB to USB cable, a power adapter, and a user’s manual.
GeekBuying informed me about this new product which they sell for $34.99 shipped, but it should also soon be listed on other resellers.

@onebir
hmmm. Big box (K1 Plus) with same price….
Maybe MK808B PRO price will soon get knocked down to $30 then.
@Jean-Luc Aufranc (CNXSoft)
Yep – less overheating but slightly higher shipping costs for box. & Chinavasion isn’t always the cheapest…
@onebir
Oh I think shipping is not included on ChinaVasion, then it should probably be the normal price then. (~$40).
This is my favorite form factor…I’ll have to get one!
@Jean-Luc Aufranc (CNXSoft)
Ah – you’re right:

Is this by Tronsmart?
I was about to buy the Plus and may still. The only advantage of this is 4k 10 bit really? Both only have 1 gb memory so 64 bit means little and both are 28nm? The other already has an after-market openelec build ready to go. Suppose I could wait till last second to buy as the penta-core gpu is better than the quad-core and maybe clocked higher? And the cpu is 2ghz compared to 1.5ghz so if dual boot would notice on android. I only have 1080 TV and haven’t encoded in 10 bit on it so as far… Read more »
@birdog Cortex A53 @ 2.0 GHz should be quite faster than Cortex A5 @ 1.5 GHz. For video playback it usually does not really matter, but for games and other apps you should notice a difference. MK808B Plus won’t be able to play 4K videos at all, but MK808B PRO will be able to play 4K video downscaled to 1080p on your TV. I’ve read OpenELEC was running on MINIX MX and/or K1 Plus already (both based on Amlogic S905), so it might also work on MK808B PRO. At this stage though, you’ll probably get better support on MK808 Plus,… Read more »

Is that netxeon?
@Jean-Luc Aufranc (CNXSoft)
Thanks, I will wait and get this one then
@Jean-Luc Aufranc (CNXSoft)
How would this compare to the Mini M8S?
http://www.gearbest.com/tv-box-mini-pc/pp_334004.html
@light
Mini M8S has more memory, but it’s larger.
I don’t know how either device performs, since I have not tested them.
@Jean-Luc Aufranc (CNXSoft)
I see. Considering the memory and similar specs I think I’ll settle for the Mini M8S; wouldn’t be needing it to move around so size and portability isn’t an issue. Thanks for the input.
